stakeholders
in
the
agricultural
value
chain
in
the
five
Northern
Regions
have
participated
in
a
day’s
training
workshop
on
e-agricultural
technology.
The
training,
organised
by
Agrospectrum
Limited,
a
Non-governmental
Organisation
based
in
the
Northern
Region,
was
to
build
the
capacity
of
the
stakeholders
in
E-Agric
technology
as
well
as
deepen
their
knowledge
in
the
use
of
agricultural
technology.
It
was
also
to
help
them
leverage
broad
spectrums
technological
infrastructure
to
provide
solutions
for
the
agricultural
value
chain
as
well
as
grow
influence
in
mobile
technology
on
the
continent.
The
participants
were
drawn
from
the
Upper
East,
West,
North
East,
Savannah
and
Northern
Regions.
Addressing
the
participants
at
the
training,
the
General
Manager
of
the
Agro
Spectrum,
Mr
Castro
Antwi
–Danso,
said
the
‘E-Agric’
which
had
evolved
into
Agro-spectrum
remained
committed
to
improving
incomes
of
agricultural
value
actors
by
empowering
them.
He
said
the
training
was
dedicated
to
transforming
agriculture
paradigms
and
empowering
the
stakeholders
in
the
value
chain
through
their
services
and
innovation
solutions.
“We
create
an
inclusive
marketplace
that
caters
to
the
needs
of
farmers,
government
and
service
providers
to
solve
challenges
in
the
sector,”
he
added
He
stated
that
the
training
was
to
facilitate
a
seamless
linkage
between
farmers
and
markets,
and
to
provide
support
service
for
farmer’s
well-being
through
leveraging
technology
for
informed
decisions-making,
promote
financial
inclusion
and
access
to
inputs.
Furthermore,
Mr
Danso
said
the
Agrospectrum
was
the
main
technology
partner
of
the
Ministry
of
Food
and
Agriculture
for
the
Planting
for
Food
and
Jobs
Programme.
He
noted
that
the
technology
helped
create
the
first
national
database
of
farmers
in
Ghana
for
the
Ministry
of
Agriculture.
He
added
that
the
product
was
used
to
biometrically
profile
1.6
farmers
as
well
as
recorded
spatial
details
of
all
farmlands
of
theses
farmers
across
the
five
regions
of
the
north
in
the
country.
The
General
Manager
also
added
that
they
provide
climate
smart
information
via
voice
and
SMS
to
farmers
across
the
country.
He
said
the
service
also
use
to
send
weather
information
and
agronomic
advice
via
voice
in
local
language
to
farmers
based
on
their
language
preferences
to
assist
farmers
in
crop
production.
Mr
Danso
however,
appealed
to
the
stakeholders
to
deploy
the
knowledge
they
have
acquired
in
the
training
for
their
farming
activities.
Mr
Abdul
Mumin
Saddiqu,
Maltiti
Agro
processing
limited,
on
his
part
thanked
the
organisers
for
the
training,
and
assured
them
that
they
would
use
the
knowledge
acquired
appropriately.
Agrospectrum
aimed
to
provide
smallholders
farmer
with
access
to
inputs
and
finance
through
their
virtual
marketplace,
while
driving
business
for
input
dealers
and
financial
service
providers.
