Abrepo, Amakom reach MTN AshantiFest quarter finals

Ama­kom
have
qualified
to
the
quarter
finals
of
the
ongoing
MTN
Ashanti­Fest
Inter
Community
Gala
2024.

Both
teams
ended
Zone
C
with
six
points
but
Abrepo
FC
secured
the
top
spot
on
goals
difference
while
Ama­kom
FC
ended
up
as
runners
up.

Aboabo
and
Dechemso,
the
other
teams
in
the
group,
had
three
points
each
to
occupy
the
third
and
fourth
positions.

The
other
group
games
would
round
up
today
and
tomorrow
with
the
likes
of
Santasi,
Bantama,
Tafo
and
Mamponteng
vying
for
a
place
at
the
quarter
finals.

Heading
to
the
quarter
finals,
Amakom
defeated
De­chemso
4-0
in
their
first
game
with
a
brace
from
George
Antwi
‘Henry’
and
a
goal
each
from
Elvis
Baffour
‘Awukye’
and
Nana
Kwame
‘LaLiga’.

They
also
defeated
Aboabo
2-1
in
their
second
game
with
George
Antwi
and
Marvin
Owusu
scoring
for
Amakom,
while
Fauzan
Costa
had
a
consolation
for
Aboabo.

Abrepo,
however,
came
from
an
earlier
upset
after
losing
1-0
to
Dechemso
in
their
first
game
to
defeat
Aboabo
1-0
courtesy
Ahmed
Junior’s
only
goal.

In
their
final
group
game,
Abrepo
put
up
a
sterling
performance
to
beat
resolute
Amakom
1-0
to
clinch
all
three
points
and
move
to
the
top
spot.

George
Antwi
‘Henry’
of
Amakom
currently
leads
the
top
scorers
chart
with
three
goals,
while
Aboabo’s
Razak
Gariba
Oga
have
two
goals.

Sixteen
teams
started
the
competition
as
they
look
for­ward
to
dethrone
Ejisu,
who
are
defending
champions
of
the
competition
