Self-acclaimed
Chef
Ebenezer
Smith
has
offered
an
unqualified
apology
to
Ghanaians
for
faking
his
Guinness
World
Records
(GWR)
certificate
on
Tuesday,
July
2.
On
Tuesday,
July
2,
2024,
Chef
Smith
held
a
press
conference
to
declare
himself
as
the
new
record
holder
for
the
longest
cooking
by
an
individual
presenting
a
fake
certificate
as
evidence
to
his
record
breaking.
His
record
attempt
spanned
a
month
long
beginning
in
February
2024
and
ended
on
March
6,
2024.
However,
after
several
controversies
and
doubts,
a
media
organization,
TV3
sought
an
inquiry
from
the
Guinness
World
Record
about
Chef
Smith’s
GWR
certificate.
In
response
to
TV3,
the
GWR
maintained
that
the
current
record
holder
for
the
longest
cooking
by
an
individual
is
still
Alan
Fisher
from
Ireland.
The
GWR
explained
that
Chef
Smith
does
not
hold
any
title
for
the
longest
cooking
record
and
has
not
been
awarded
any
certificate.
‘We
can
confirm
this
is
not
true.
Chef
Smith
does
not
hold
the
GWR
title
and
that
is
not
our
certificate,”
GWR
said
in
its
response
to
TV3.
Days
after,
Chef
Smith
in
a
yet-to-be
aired
interview
with
Accra-based
channel,
GH
One
TV,
claimed
that
his
quest
to
satisfy
his
hunger
caused
his
actions.
He
expressed
remorse
for
his
actions
pleading
for
forgiveness
from
Ghanaians.
“I
apologise
to
the
world
that
I
am
so
sorry,
I
don’t
deserve
to
live
but
my
hunger
caused
my
actions
and
landed
me
this
way.
“I
am
sorry
to
the
entire
nation,”
a
remorseful
Chef
Smith
said
while
wailing
uncontrollably.
