Ghanaian
rapper
Okyeame
Kwame
has
questioned
Graphic
Showbiz’s
criteria
used
for
ranking
its
list
of
greatest
rappers
in
Ghana.
In
celebration
of
Ghana’s
rich
rap
heritage, Graphic
Showbiz compiled
a
list
of
the
12
GH
Greatest
Rappers
of
All
Time.
According
to
Graphic
Showbiz,
the
definitive
list
which
was
published
on
June
27
was
based
on
lyrical
content,
flow,
storytelling,
experience,
language,
cultural
relevance,
originality,
vocal
delivery
and
wordplay.
Sarkodie,
Obrafour,
Okyeame
Kwame,
Okomfour
Kwadee,
Lord
Kenya,
Manifest,
Tinny,
Reggie
Rockstone,
Strongman,
Eno
Barony,
Guru
and
Amerado
were
the
twelve
rappers
who
made
the
list.
However,
speaking
in
an
interview
with
ZionFelix,
the
‘Rap
Doctor’
who
was
placed
at
the
third
position
on
the
list
said
anybody
who
does
a
list
like
that
without
mentioning
EL,
Edem
and
Flowking
Stone
may
not
have
consulted
rappers
during
their
research
process.
“What
criteria
did
Graphic
Showbiz
use
for
that
list?
RAP
is
Rhythmic
African
Poetry;
so
did
they
look
out
for
the
rhythm,
the
‘Africanness’
or
the
poetry?
Did
they
use
popularity
or
influence?
Or
it
is
based
on
being
able
to
really
rap?
“Because
when
I
saw
the
list
I
didn’t
understand
why
EL,
Flowking
Stone
and
Edem
Goget’em
were
not
part.
What
kind
of
list
is
this?
When
we
talk
about
best
rappers
of
all
time
in
Ghana,
you
can’t
take
these
three
people
out,”
he
said.
Aside
the
three
names
mentioned
by
Okyeame
Kwame,
Ghana
can
also
boast
of
a
number
of
talented
rappers
such
as
Omar
Sterling,
Lyrical
Joe,
Ponobiom,
Medikal
among
others.
