The
dawn
to
dusk
curfew
imposed
on
Bawku
over
the
lingering
chieftaincy
dispute
that
resulted
in
killing
of
innocent
lives
in
the
area
has
been
reviewed
from
8:00pm
to
5:00am
to
10pm
to
4:00am
with
immediate
effect.

The
revision
of
the
curfew
duration
has
been
necessitated
by
the
community
enjoying
some
relative
peace
and
this
will
aid
them
go
about
their
activities
freely.

The
Upper
East
Regional
Minister,
Dr.
Hafiz
Bin
Salih
who
announced
the
new
curfew
timelines
also
indicated
that
“the
decision
by
the
Regional
Security
Council
to
relax
the
curfew
was
a
result
of
the
relative
peace
enjoyed
in
the
Bawku
municipality
over
the
last
few
months.”

He
however,
cautioned
residents
not
to
do
anything
that
will
lead
to
tightening
the
curfew
again.

The
announcement
of
the
revised
curfew
was
received
with
much
excitement
from
the
youth
at
a
gathering
held
in
Bawku
to
cut
sod
for
the
construction
of
an
Astroturf
to
improve
sporting
disciplines
in
the
area.

He
also
commissioned
market
stalls
at
Winazua
Park.
According
to
the
Minister,
the
projects
undertaken
in
the
municipality
were
to
serve
as
developmental
initiatives
to
silence
the
guns
and
promote
unity
among
the
feuding
factions.
