Andre
Ayew
says
representing
the
Black
Stars
is
daunting
and
demands
so
much
sacrifice.
The
Black
Stars
captain
has
proven
to
be
a
legendary
figure
in
Ghanaian
football,
recording
120
caps
for
the
national
team,
underscoring
his
determination
and
perseverance.
Speaking
as
a
guest
lecturer
during
a
sports
psychology
class
at
the
University
of
Ghana,
Ayew
reflected
on
‘self-sacrifice’.
He
explained
the
pride
that
comes
with
wearing
the
national
colors
and
the
sacrifices
it
demands.
“When
you
were
this
jersey,
you
know
you
have
something
different
ahead
of
you.
For
my
part,
the
way
I
was
brought
up.
The
national
team
is
so
important
to
my
life
and
my
family’s
life.
“My
family
is
about
the
game,
so
when
you
know
you
have
to
wear
this
jersey
for
me
it’s
all
about
sacrifices,
I
don’t
gain
my
bread
wearing
the
national
team
colours.
I
wear
the
national
team
colours
with
pride.”
“So
anytime
you
have
the
chance
to
play
in
the
jersey,
you
have
to
be
able
to
surpass
yourself
if
you
want
to
stay
in
people’s
minds.”
The
34-year-old
could
extend
the
record
of
most
appearances
but
his
future
with
the
national
team
remains
uncertain
given
his
recent
exclusion
from
the
latest
squad
announcement
despite
his
impressive
form
with
Le
Havre.
Ayew
is
currently
without
a
club
after
his
contract
with
Le
Havre
expired
and
like
in
recent
years
is
hoping
to
seal
a
new
deal
with
another
club
as
a
free
agent.
