parliamentary
candidate
of
the
New
Patriotic
Party
for
the
Manhyia
South
constituency
has
called
for
unity
amongst
party
members
in
the
constituency
to
help
secure
victory
in
the
upcoming
December
elections.
Giving
a
victory
speech
after
winning
the
primaries
on
Sunday,
July
14,
Nana
Agyei
Baffuor
Awuah
expressed
appreciation
to
the
delegates
for
electing
him
to
replace
Dr.
Matthew
Opoku
Prempeh.
He
underscored
the
need
for
party
members
to
come
together,
work
hard
and
support
the
party’s
flagbearer,
Dr.
Bawumia
to
break
the
eight.
Manhyia
South

winner
He
called
on
his
contenders
and
constituents
to
forgive
him
if
he
stepped
on
any
toes
prior
to
the
primaries.
“Let’s
come
together
in
unity
and
work
hard
to
break
the
eight.
We
are
coming
to
work
hard
this
year
to
support
Dr.
Bawumia
and
his
running
mate
Dr.
Matthew
Opoku
Prempeh,”
he
said.
“The
time
has
come
for
us
to
break
the
eight.
We
will
not
allow
power
to
slip
off
our
hands,
not
today,
not
tomorrow.
Whatever
means
we
have
to
use
to
remain
in
power,
we
will
do.
We
will
work
hard,
morning,
day
and
night
to
make
sure
that
power
does
not
go
to
the
NDC,”
he
added.
The
fiercely
contested
election
saw
the
legal
practitioner
winning
with
376
votes
and
his
closest
contender,
Nana
Owusu
Afriyie
Prempeh
securing
141
votes,
representing
26.82%
of
valid
votes
cast.
Akwasi
Coker
Gyambibi
had
2
votes
whilst
James
Owusu
Boakye
got
7
votes.
The
primary
poll
became
necessary
after
four-time
Member
of
Parliament
Dr
Matthew
Opoku
Prempeh
was
nominated
by
the
ruling
party’s
flagbearer,
Dr
Mahamudu
Bawumia
as
his
running
mate.
