CDS promises to maintain professionalism of military ahead of Dec 7 elections during a call on Chief Imam

Chief

Defence
Staff
(CDS),
Lieutenant
General
Thomas
Oppong-Peprah,
has
reaffirmed
the
military’s
commitment
to
ensuring
the
security
of
Ghana’s
borders
and
the
neutrality
of
the
armed
forces
as
the
country
prepares
for
the
upcoming
general
elections.

During
a
courtesy
call
on
the
National
Chief
Imam,
Sheikh
Dr.
Nuhu
Osman
Sharubutu,
at
his
residence
in
Fadama,
Accra,
on
Tuesday,
July
16,
2024,
Lt
Gen
Oppong-Peprah
emphasized
the
military’s
readiness
to
maintain
peace
and
stability
throughout
the
election
period.

The
CDS
underscored
the
Ghana
Armed
Forces’
(GAF)
dedication
to
upholding
professionalism
and
neutrality
during
this
critical
time.

The
visit
was
not
only
a
gesture
of
respect,
but
also
a
plea
for
guidance
and
blessings
from
the
Chief
Imam,
recognizing
the

of
spiritual
support
in
his
role.
Lt
Gen
Oppong-Peprah
expressed
his
gratitude
to
Sheikh

his

the

military

impartiality.
He

the
military

in
safeguarding
the

during,

elections.
