Young guy flees the forest after using his uncle’s GHS 3000 to stake bet and losing

In
a
distressing
turn
of
events,
Stephen
Kwaku
Oteng,
a
young
man
from
Anum
in
the
Eastern
Region
has
been
hiding
in
a
forest
since
last
Saturday
after
losing
his
uncle’s
GHS
3,000
in
a
failed
betting
venture.

According
to
Stephen,
he
received
the
money
from
his
uncle
to
keep
and
his
intention
was
to
use
it
briefly
to
place
bets
on
Arsenal,
Bayern
Munich,
and
Aviator.

To
make
a
quick
profit
of
GHS
200
before
returning
the
principal
amount.
However,
his
plan
quickly
backfired

Speaking
in
an
interview
with
Crime
Check
Foundation,
Stephen
explained
that
he
initially
staked
GHS
20
but
lost.

In
a
desperate
attempt
to
recover
his
losses,
he
kept
betting
until
the
entire
GHS
3,000
was
gone.

“I
thought
I
could
make
just
GHS
200
and
give
my
uncle
his
money
back,
but
it
all
went
wrong,”
he
recounted.

Consumed
by
fear
of
his
uncle’s
reaction,
Stephen
fled
into
the
forest
where
he
has
been
living
off
food
from
nearby
farms.

He
remains
in
hiding
and
is
deeply
troubled
by
the
thought
of
facing
his
uncle’s
wrath.
