Kumasi: Teachers boycott teaching as ‘wee boys’ use classrooms as toilet facility

Teachers
at
Apraman
M/A
Basic
School
in
Kumasi
Metropolis,
in
the
Ashanti
Region’s
Nhyiaso
sub-metro,
have
threatened
to
stop
teaching
because
some
residents
of
the
area
have
been
defecating
in
the
classrooms.

According
to
the
students,
some
of
their
teachers
have
refused
to
teach
because
of
the
stench.

They
said
since
their
classrooms
are
not
well-gated,
open
defecation
occurs
frequently.
According
to
them
most
mornings
when
they
arrive,
they
see
human
waste
scattered
throughout
the
classrooms.

According
to
students,
it
is
depressing
and
unsightly
to
witness
students
in
uniform
attempting
to
clean
and
scrub
the
classrooms
before
lessons
start.
