(NPP)
have
gathered
at
the
Jubilee
Park
in
Kumasi
for
the
official
unveiling
of
NAPO.

The
party
is
set
to
unveil
Dr.
Matthew
Opoku
Prempeh,
known
as
“NAPO,”
as
the
running
mate
to
their
flagbearer
Dr.
Mahamudu
Bawumia
for
the
2024
general
elections.

Several
business
activities
have
stopped
for
several
hours.

The
central
business
district
and
areas
around
the
Jubilee
Park
are
overflowing
with
a
stream
of
NPP
colours
as
party
supporters
clad
themselves
in
party
paraphernalia
in
support
of
NAPO’s
unveiling.

The

jubilations
across
the
city
after
he
was
named
as
the
running
mate
of
the
NPP.

At

parts
Asafo,
heading
to
the
Jubilee
Park
Tuesday
morning,
traders,
hawkers
and
shoppers
had
decorated
themselves
with
their

party
clothes,
while
bathing
each
other
with
cheers.

Loudspeakers
blaring
party
songs
had
been
placed
at
vantage
points
to
electrify
the
dancing
feet
of
both
traders
and
supporters.

a

after
the
NPP
Presidential
primaries
as
to
who
will
be
the
running
mate
of
the
party.

The
final
verdict
which
was
announced
by
the
party
last
week
brought
the
city
to
a
standstill.

The
announcement
will
be
held
at
Kumasi
Jubilee
Park
in
the
Ashanti
Region,
the
stronghold
of
the
party.

The
event
is
anticipated
to
gather
significant
figures
within
the
party,
including
President
Akufo-Addo,
the
Council
of
Elders,
Members
of
Parliament,
and
other
key
members.

Last
Thursday,
July
4,
the
NPP’s
National
Council
officially
endorsed
the
current
Energy
Minister
as
the
running
mate
to
Dr.
Bawumia.

Dr.
Opoku
Prempeh’s
appointment
has
generated
extensive
debate
nationwide.

While
some
praise
him
as
a
valuable
addition
to
Dr.
Bawumia,
others
criticize
him
as
being
arrogant.
