Thirty-two
communities
that
have
been
thirsty
for
water
for
decades
have
now
heaved
a
sigh
of
relieve
following
intervention
by
the
Member
of
Parliament
for
Bawku
Central,
Mahama
Ayariga.
The
MP
drilled
and
handed
over
forty-two
boreholes
to
thirty-two
communities.
For
years,
residents
in
adjoining
communities
in
the
Bawku
Central
Constituency
have
been
without
potable
source
of
water.
Open
polluted
wells
and
dams
are
sources
that
supply
indigenes
with
water,
but
the
woes
of
residents
aggravates
when
these
water
sources
dry
up
in
the
dry
season.
Health
facilities
and
households
suffer
the
impact
of
the
water
shortage.
The
boreholes
funded
by
the
MP’s
Common
Fund
therefore
come
in
timely.
A
brief
ceremony
was
held
to
commission
the
42
boreholes.
Mahama
Ayariga,
who
is
seeking
re-election
is
confident
that
the
boreholes
will
go
a
long
way
to
relieve
residents,
most
especially
women
and
children
who
trek
several
kilometers
in
search
of
good
drinking
water.
He
said
the
water
projects
were
constructed
within
5
months.
The
MP
has
meanwhile
also
spearheaded
the
lobbying
and
execution
of
other
projects
including
roads,
schools,
rural
electrification
among
others
in
his
constituency.
