The
newly
unveiled
running
mate
to
the
flagbearer
of
the
New
Patriotic
Party
(NPP),
Dr
Matthew
Opoku
Prempeh
has
said
that
no
president
in
the
history
of
Ghana
has
helped
to
develop
the
country
more
than
President
Akufo-Addo.

According
to
Dr
Mahamudu
Bawumia’s
running
mate,
since
taking
over
the
presidency
of
Ghana,
President
Akufo-Addo
has
steered
affairs
of
the
country
to
the
admiration
of
all.

“I
can
boldly
say
that
if
the
history
of
Ghana
is
told
from
1957,
we
have
never
had
a
president
that
has
helped
Ghana
more
than
Nana
Akufo-Addo.
I
mean
from
1957,
even
including
your
Kwame
Nkrumah,
none
of
them
has
protected
Ghana
and
developed
the
country
more
than
Nana
Akufo-Addo,”
he
said
in
Twi
at
his
official
unveiling
event
at
the
Jubilee
Park
in
Kumasi
on
July
9,
2024.

Dr
Opoku
Prempeh
stressed
that,
“President
Akufo-Addo
has
developed
this
country
to
the
admiration
of
all.
Therefore,
we
will
not
allow
what
happened
in
2008
to
repeat
itself.
It
will
be
most
appropriate
for
Nana
Akufo-Addo
to
hand
over
to
his
junior
brother,
Dr
Bawumia.”

Meanwhile,
speaking
with
Alfred
Ocansey
on
Ghana
Tonight,
a
Political
Communications
Specialist,
Prof
Kobby
Mensah
said
by
this
statement,
Dr
Opoku
Prempeh
has
proven
his
critics
right.

He
added
that
this
statement,
coming
few
hours
after
his
uncle,
Asantehene
Otumfuo
Osei
Tutu
II
had
advised
him
to
purge
himself
of
the
arrogant
tag,
means
more
work
remains
to
be
done
on
NAPO’s
public
communication.

“It
is
unfortunate
that
few
hours
after
the
eminent
chief
had
advised
him
to
prove
his
critics
wrong,
he
goes
about
denigrating
a
Ghanaian
leader
of
international
repute.
Someone
who
has
been
adjudged
as
a
millennium
leader
in
Africa
{Dr
Kwame
Nkrumah}.
It
shows
that
there
is
some
work
that
needs
to
be
done
with
his
public
communication,”
Prof
Mensah
noted.
