has
urged
transport
owners
to
support
the
government’s

that
a
number
of
digital
initiatives
had
been
introduced

sector
to
boost
their
operation.

These
include
streamlining
of
the
processes
for
Driver’s
Licence
acquisition,
vehicle
registration,
and
insurance
renewal.

Very
soon,
he
said,
rolled-out

system
for
taxis,
all
designed
to
make
the
sector
more
efficient
and
cost-effective.

Dr

said
this
on

after
meeting
the
leadership
and
members
of

“I
challenged
the

other
transport
operators
to
collaborate
with
government
to
accelerate
the
reforms
and
digital
transformation
being
infused
into
the
operations
of
the
public
transport
sector.

“Over
the
last
few
years,
the
Government
has
continually
introduced
digitalization
into
the
transport
sector,
reflected
among
others
in
the
streamlining
of
the
processes
for
Driver’s
Licence
acquisition,
vehicle
registration,
insurance
renewal,
the
soon-to-be
rolled-out
ride-hailing
system
for
taxis,
all
designed
to
make
the
sector
more
efficient
and
cost
effective.

“I
also
announced
plans
for
the
construction
of
Charging
Stations
for
the
batteries
of
Electronic
Vehicles
across
the
country,
with
about
100
Electronic
Buses,
to
be
run
by
the
GPRTU,
expected
to
arrive
by
the
end
of
the
year,”
he
wrote.
