IGP apologises to family of lady who died in Takoradi hotel

The
Inspector
General
of
Police
(IGP),
Dr.
George
Akuffo
Dampare,
has
apologized
to
the
family
of
24-year-old
Lois
Abena
Koranteng,
who
was
found
dead
in
a
pool
at
the
CrisLord
Palace
Hotel
in
Takoradi,
and
has
expedited
the
investigation
into
the
matter.

Ms.
Koranteng
reportedly
checked
into
the
CrisLord
Palace
Hotel
on
June
7,
2024,
with
her
boss
and
another
company
staff
member
but
was
found
dead
in
the
hotel’s
pool
the
following
morning.

In
a
statement
on
Thursday,
the
police
indicated
that
the
IGP’s
apology
follows
the
dissatisfaction
expressed
by
the
deceased’s
family
in
sections
of
the
media
regarding
the
extent
of
police
engagement
with
them
on
the
matter.

It
also
indicated
the
IGP’s
assurance
to
the
family
of
the
service’s
continued
investigation
into
the
matter.

“Following
the
dissatisfaction
expressed
by
the
deceased
family
in
sections
of
the
media
regarding
the
extent
of
Police
engagement
with
them
on
the
matter,
the
Inspector-General
of
Police
yesterday,
10th
July
2024,
reached
out
to
the
family
via
a
telephone
call
and
rendered
an
unqualified
apology
to
them
for
the
lack
of
sufficient
Police
engagement.”

“He
assured
them
that
investigation
into
the
incident
is
still
ongoing
and
also
informed
them
of
the
readiness
of
the
Police
to
visit
them
at
their
convenience
and
update
them
on
investigation
done
so
far.
Police
will
continue
to
work
closely
with
the
family
as
investigation
into
the
incident
continues,”
it
stated.
