Carlos
Alcaraz
retained
his
Wimbledon
men’s
singles
title
by
overpowering
Novak
Djokovic
for
the
second
consecutive
year.

The
anticipated
rematch
of
last
year’s
final
saw
the
dominant
Spaniard
outclass
the
Serbian
legend,
culminating
in
a
6-2,
6-2,
7-6
(7-4)
victory.

Unlike
their
five-set
thriller
from
last
year
months
ago,
this
year’s
final
was
a
more
straightforward
affair.
The
Spaniard,
showcasing
focus
and
tenacity,
celebrated
triumphantly
after
securing
the
third-set
tie-break.

“Honestly,
it
is
a
dream
for
me
winning
this
trophy,”
Alcaraz
said,
receiving
the
trophy
from
the
Princess
of
Wales.
“I
did
an
interview
when
I
was
11
and
I
said
my
dream
is
to
win
Wimbledon.”

Djokovic,
aiming
to
equal
Roger
Federer’s
record
of
eight
Wimbledon
men’s
titles,
was
left
largely
helpless
against
Alcaraz’s
relentless
play.
The
24-time
major
winner
was
also
vying
to
surpass
Margaret
Court’s
record
for
the
most
Grand
Slam
singles
titles.

Continuing
the
Wimbledon
tradition,
the
21-year-old
climbed
up
to
the
players’
box,
where
he
was
embraced
by
his
team
and
family,
celebrating
his
14th
consecutive
match
win
at
the
All
England
Club.

This
victory
maintains
Alcaraz’s
perfect
record
in
Grand
Slam
finals,
making
him
the
youngest
man
to
win
both
Wimbledon
and
the
French
Open
in
the
same
year.
Alcaraz
hoped
it
would
be
a
day
of
double
celebrations
for
Spain,
with
the
national
football
team
set
to
face
England
in
the
Euro
2024
final
later
in
the
evening.
