an
effort
to
ensure
a
peaceful
and
transparent
election
in
December,
the
Electoral
Commission
(EC),
the
Ghana
Police
Service,
and
the
Christian
Council
have
unveiled
comprehensive
plans.
The
new
measures
were
out
doored
during
the
inauguration
of
a
15-member
Eminent
Persons
Group,
2024.
This
group
is
tasked
with
serving
as
a
proactive
peacebuilding
platform
for
the
2024
elections.
Comprising
respected
figures
from
various
sectors,
the
Eminent
Persons
Group
will
work
to
mediate
conflicts,
foster
dialogue
among
stakeholders,
and
promote
peaceful
coexistence
during
the
election
period.
The
establishment
of
the
Eminent
Persons
Group
is
a
testament
to
the
Christian
Council’s
dedication
to
supporting
a
peaceful
electoral
environment.
The
group’s
mandate
includes
monitoring
the
pre-election
atmosphere,
engaging
with
political
parties
and
candidates
to
promote
peaceful
conduct,
and
intervening
in
any
disputes
that
may
arise.
This
collaborative
effort
aims
to
establish
a
framework
that
guarantees
a
smooth
electoral
process
and
maintains
peace
throughout
the
election
period.
The
EC
has
announced
its
strategic
plans
and
schedule
ahead
of
the
national
elections
set
for
December.
Speaking
at
the
inauguration
of
the
Eminent
Persons
Group,
the
Deputy
Chairman
of
the
EC,
Dr
Eric
Bossman
emphasized
the
Commission’s
unwavering
commitment
to
conducting
a
transparent
and
efficient
elections.
The
EC’s
plans
include
various
measures
designed
to
enhance
voter
education,
streamline
voting
procedures,
and
ensure
that
the
electoral
process
is
free
from
fraud
and
irregularities.
During
the
same
event,
the
Inspector
General
of
Police
(IGP)
reassured
the
public
of
the
Police
Service’s
readiness
to
maintain
peace
throughout
the
election
period.
Highlighting
proactive
measures,
the
IGP
asserted
that
the
Police
Service
is
well-prepared
to
handle
any
election-related
issues.
The
IGP
emphasized
that
the
Police
are
“on
top
of
the
game”
when
it
comes
to
dealing
with
potential
disruptions
and
would
take
firm
action
against
any
political
party
that
attempts
to
disturb
the
electoral
process.
The
collaboration
among
the
EC,
the
Ghana
Police
Service,
and
the
Christian
Council
highlights
the
comprehensive
approach
being
taken
to
ensure
the
success
of
the
December
elections.
By
combining
efforts,
these
institutions
aim
to
create
a
secure,
transparent,
and
fair
electoral
