West,
Peter
Toobu
has
said
that
the
appointment
of
Commissioner
of
Police
(COP)
Christian
Tetteh
Yohuno
as
Deputy
Inspector-General
of
Police,
in
charge
of
operations
is
in
furtherance
of
election
security.
According
to
him,
President
Akufo-Addo
per
the
appointment
may
be
providing
the
current
IGP
with
experienced
hands
to
support
him
to
ensure
peaceful
elections
on
December
7.
“Probably,
the
President
is
looking
at
the
fact
that
we
are
in
an
election
year,
and
he
is
seeking
to
empower
people
to
support
the
IGP
to
deliver,”
Mr
toobu
said
on

on
July

He
added
that
Mr
Yohuno
is
more
than
qualified
to
occupy
that
position,
“What
Akufo-Addo
has
done
is
to
put
an
icing
on
the
cake.
He
deserves
it,”
Mr
Toobu
stressed.
His
opinion
is
at
variance
with
that
of
a
Security
Expert,
Richard
Kumadoe.
Mr
Kumadoe
said
President
Akufo-Addo’s
appointment
of
Mr.
Tetteh
Yohuno
as
the
new
Deputy
Inspector
General
of
Police
in
charge
of
Operations
may
be
part
of
the
conspiracy
to
remove
the
IGP
Dr
George
Akuffo
Dampare.
The
appointment
of
COP
Yohunu
was
announced
in
a
press
statement
released

July
2024,
during
which
COP

exceptional
credentials
and
dedication
to
duty
were
acknowledged,”
the
statement
said.
It
added
that
COP
Christian
Tetteh
Yohuno
is
a
distinguished
law
enforcement
officer,
with
a
career
spanning
over
three
decades,
and
has
held
various
key
positions
within
the
Ghana
Police
Service.

him
the
very
best
in
the

of
his
duties,”
the
statement
said.
Commenting
on
this
development
on
the
same
show
Mr
Kumadoe
said,
“This
feeds
into
the
conspiracy
theory
that
they
are
preparing
the
grounds
for
the
removal
of
IGP
Dampare.”
