Ghana Highways Authority to begin repair works on Kojo Ashong, Afienya steel bridges

Authority,
has
announced
the
imminent
commencement
of
repair
works
on
two
key
bridges
in
the
Greater
Accra
Region

the
Kojo
Ashong
and
the
Afienya
Steel
Bridge.

These
bridges
have
been
a
cause
for
concern
due
to
their
deteriorating
condition,
leading
to
significant
traffic
congestion
and
posing
a
safety
risk
to
both
motorists
and
pedestrians.
The
upcoming
repair
works
form
part
of
a
larger
infrastructure
improvement
plan,
which
aims
to
enhance
road
safety
and
improve
traffic
flow
in
the
region.

the

these
repair
works
for

safety

the
two
bridges.

The
announcement
also

specific

the
closure
of
the
bridges.
The
Kojo
Ashong
bridge
is
scheduled
to
be
closed
to
traffic
at
midnight
on
July
6,
2024,
while
the
Afienya
steel
bridge
will
follow
suit,
closing
to
traffic
at
midnight
on
Monday,
July
15,
2024.

The
Authority
has
estimated
that
the
repair
works
on
both
bridges
will
be
completed
within
a
two-week
timeframe.

In
the
announcement,
the
Authority
expressed
its
commitment
to
resolving
the
situation
as
quickly
as
possible,
with
its
engineers
and
technical
team
poised
to
work
diligently
on
the
project.

The
Authority
urged
the
public
to
cooperate
and
exercise
patience
during
this
period,
as
these
works
are
crucial
for
ensuring
safety
and
restoring
normal
traffic
flow.

last
for
