Road
users
on
the
Chereponi-Yendi
stretch
have
appealed
to
the
government
to
urgently
repair
the
road,
which
has
deteriorated
further
due
to
the
rainy
season.
The
road
is
flooded,
making
travel
challenging
and
stressful.
Residents
and
commuters
are
calling
for
attention
to
the
deplorable
road
conditions,
which
have
been
neglected
for
too
long.
“You
should
have
come
during
the
rainy
season.
But
when
it
came
to
the
flagbearer-ship,
candidates
were
able
to
pass
on
the
road
and
to
our
information,
on
papers,
the
road
has
been
tarred,
only
for
them
to
come
and
see
that
the
road
isn’t
tarred.
It’s
a
very
sad
situation
here.”
The
Yendi-Chereponi
road
is
a
critical
route
connecting
Chereponi
to
the
Northern
region
and
the
rest
of
the
country.
However,
its
terrible
state
has
left
commuters
relying
on
old,
unreliable
vehicles,
praying
to
reach
their
destinations
safely.
The
road
passes
through
three
districts:
Yendi
Municipal,
Saboba
District,
and
Chereponi
District,
with
the
worst
sections
in
Saboba
and
Yendi
districts.
According
to
the
District
Chief
Executive
for
Chereponi,
Hajia
Nashiru
Zuwera,
efforts
are
underway
to
fix
the
road,
with
6.4
km
of
repairs
completed
in
the
Chereponi
District.
More
chippings
have
been
delivered
to
continue
the
work.
However,
commuters
are
urging
the
government
to
expedite
the
repairs
to
avoid
further
hardships
and
potential
robberies
by
armed
robbers
who
exploit
the
poor
road
conditions.
