A
member
of
the
Reconciliation
Committee
of
the
New
Patriotic
Party
(NPP),
Nii
Ayikoi
Otoo
has
said
the
party’s
focus
should
be
on
bringing
unity
to
prepare
for
campaign
after
the
confirmation
of
Dr.
Opoku
Prempeh
as
running
mate
to
Dr.
Bawumia.

The
former
Attorney
General
noted
that
it
is
not
the
right
time
for
dissenting
views
on
the
selection
of
Dr.
Opoku
Prempeh
to
prevail
in
the
party.

Speaking
in
an
interview
with
TV3
shortly
after
Dr.
Opoku
Prempeh
was
confirmed
as
Dr.
Bawumia’s
running
mate,
Nii
Ayikoi
Otoo
believes
that
a
decision
has
already
been
taken
and
all
opposing
views
must
be
buried
with
sole
focus
on
preparations
towards
the
elections.

“For
me
whatever
divisions
there
were
prior
to
today’s
announcement
should
now
take
the
back
seat
and
let’s
move
forward.

“I
think
that
once
the
decision
has
been
made,
we
should
all
rally
behind
the
person
who
has
been
selected
and
go
forward
and
prepare
towards
the
campaign.

“The
focus
should
be
on
preparing
towards
the
campaign.
Dissenting
voices
should
not
be
allowed
to
stay
in
the
way
of
the
party,”
he
said.

The
Energy
Minister,
Dr
Matthew
Opoku
Prempeh
was
confirmed
as
the
running
mate
to
Dr
Bawumia
on
Thursday,
July
4.

“I
am
happy
to
report
that
after
the
necessary
consideration,
the
NC
unanimously
endorses
Dr
Matthew
Opoku
Prempeh
as
the
running
mate
of
Dr
Bawumia,”
General
Secretary
of
the
NPP
Justin
Kodua
Frimpong
said
at
a
press
conference
on
Thursday.

Kodua
Frimpong
added
“He
is
a
charismatic,
bold
leader
who
excelled
at
the
Ministry
of
Education
and
at
the
Energy
Ministry.

The
selection
comes
after
several
delay
and
discussions
on
who
should
be
the
running
mate
to
Dr.
Bawumia.
