KT
Hammond,
Member
of
Parliament
(MP)
for
Adansi
Asokwa,
expressed
unhappiness
with
his
constituents
following
his
recent
defeat
in
the
2024
parliamentary
elections.
According
to
him,
the
citizens
of
his
constituency
declined
to
vote,
resulting
in
his
defeat.
He
added
that
what
bothered
him
the
most
was
that
regions
where
chiefs
had
assured
him
of
victory
still
did
not
turn
out
to
vote
for
him.
“I’ve
worked
hard
for
this
constituency,
and
I
thought
that
would
be
appreciated
at
the
polls.
But
politics
is
full
of
surprises,
and
it’s
clear
that
the
people
wanted
a
change,”
he
said.
“Places
that
cars
couldn’t
go,
I
had
to
walk
and
visit
them.
Places
that
even
during
my
youthful
age
I
wasn’t
going,
I
went
there
in
my
old
age.
So,
I
made
sure
that
I
covered
all
places
and
felt
comfortable.”
He
continued,
“So,
when
election
day
came,
people
refused
to
go
and
vote,
and
I
was
asking
them
why.
They
said
they
needed
money.
And
I
was
like,
why
would
they
request
money
when
I
have
done
roads
and
provided
them
with
potable
water?
“What
will
make
you
cry
is
places
where
I
constructed
roads,
where
the
chiefs
said
they
would
vote
for
me
in
appreciation,
but
they
didn’t
vote.
It
is
very
sad.
What
pained
my
heart
most
is
that
they
didn’t
vote.”
