Nigerian
police
officer,
Owolabi
Akinilolu
has
been
accused
of
raping
a
17-year-old
girl
who
went
to
report
her
stolen
phone
at
the
Police
Station.
As
reported,
the
17-year-old
high
school
student
went
to
report
her
stolen
phone
at
the
Ogudu
Police
Station,
where
he
is
an
Assistant
Superintendent
of
Police
(ASP).
He
told
her
he
had
been
‘eyeing’
her
for
a
long
time,
and
now
that
she
was
within
reach,
she
wouldn’t
escape.
On
that
fateful
day,
he
called
her
through
her
mum’s
phone
and
told
her
that
he
had
caught
the
people
who
took
her
phone,
she
rushed
to
the
station
only
for
the
police
officer
to
rape
her
right
inside
his
office
without
protection.
Following
the
saga,
social
media
users
have
raised
concerns
as
to
why
he
has
not
been
prosecuted
but
instead
retired
by
the
Nigerian
Police
Force.
According
to
the
set
of
disappointed
netizens,
he
will
receive
gratuity
(which
runs
into
millions
of
naira
for
a
person
of
his
rank)
from
taxpayers’
money,
instead
of
getting
tried
and
locked
up
for
his
crimes.
